From: Warwick Ravaillion Message-Id: <199507011439.AAA04610@sydney.DIALix.oz.au> Subject: INXS mini-auction - Update 2nd July... To: inxs-list@iastate.edu (inxs) Date: Sun, 2 Jul 1995 00:39:19 +1000 (EST) X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL24] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Length: 13288 This is the first update on my list of INXS gear for sale. It is dated 2nd July 1995, and replaces all other issued price lists given by me. Email me for more information on any facit of this auction. I am open to ideas on how to conduct fairly, etc. At the moment I am using peoples *send* time, thus being fair with the first bid received at the same price, etc. Anyway, Here's the list of INXS stuff I have for sale. I also have a few promo posters, tourbooks (AUS) and some other gear. Email me for more info on this. There are some really rare stuff in this auction that I hope catches your eye, eg DEKADANCE (AUS), the remix promo album with 12" versions from The Swing; and Ecco-Homo, featuring Mike on vox. Great track too! Over the years I have really tried to collect all of INXS' b-sides and 12" mixes, and I think I have most of them for sale here. The condition of the items in this auction: Unless otherwise stated, all items are in absolute *mint* condition, covers, vinyl, cd, etc. only played a maximum of twice (or not at all in many cases!!!) and then filed away in a safe place, each in a acid-free polybag standing upright and supported accordingly. (This is for the collectors out there, like myself!) MINI-AUCTION RULES: standard Internet auction rules apply; ie items can be withdrawn without notice, bid offers do not include postage/insurance (to be negotiated after close of sale), bid raises of 50 cent increments are only accepted (ie .50c/$1/$1.50....) This mini-auction will be run on a ONCE, TWICE, SOLD format, with the weekend counting as one day. Email me if you want to receive individual daily updates of this list, otherwise read them on the various newsgroups, rec.music.marketplace, aus.music, and the INXS mailing list (iastate). ===== NOTE: all bids are in US$, not AUS$, as that is easier for the majority. Other currencies will be converted at the going rate. ===== PS: If you are interested in any of these items, email your offer to me at 'exar@sydney.DIALix.oz.au', and please *only* reply with the items you are actually after, as opposed to quoting the whole list, and wanting only one item, thanks! But let's just go with this fantasy for a little bit (I've actually thought of it too!). What would Michael and Bono sing together? This is my idea-do you remember when U2 and REM combined to form a band for one show? I could see U2, then Andrew gets his keyboard rig out, Kirk comes out with sax and guitar, then Michael as the additional voice (since you don't need three guitarists, or extra drummers or bassists). I'd like to see a medley-One turns into Never Tear Us Apart-how's that? For an opening band, if Belly played, that'd probably be the greatest possible experience I could ever have. >From ???@??? Murphy has resigned after working with the Aussie band for the past fifteen years (and after 22 million albums sold). He declined to give a reason for his departure, but the smart money say that it comes as a result of all the bad press that lead singer Michael Hutchence's break-up with super model Helena Christensen generated, and his subsequent fling with the very much married Paula Yates, also known as Mrs. Bob Geldof in some circles. Murphy was also unable to hush up INXS guitarist Kirk Pengilly's breakup with singer Deni Hines, only after seventeen months of marriage, so he handed in his resignation after a series of transatlantic telephone calls with Hutchence. Murphy told reporters that "I still love them after fifteen years, I think the last thing INXS really needs, to be honest with all the Michael and Kirk press now, is seeing this guy who's been with them so long departing. I was going to try to do it quietly and just make sure that I could help them through all the business they've got to do now, and help them put it all together." But alas he couldn't after tempers flared, and additional bad press or not, he took his exit from the band. hehe.. in the immortal words of anand, "funny, funny" I am sending you another message with important content within it... don't fret.. Andre- I doubt that the departure of their manager Chris Murphy will be the deciding factor in whether or not INXS' career survives. I also doubt that the relatively small amounts of press regarding Michael and Kirk's personal lives will have much to do with it either, especially where the States are concerned since most of that press is British. There has been only minor coverage it in Australia too. The pertinent questions to ponder are more about what type of material the band will produce and how their new management and new record company promote them. And by the time any of this happens, I doubt any of this minor personal stuff will have any relevance at all. Kell >From ???@??? Some of their newer stuff is alright, but it just doesn't match their brilliance from the early days of "War" and "October"... Oh well... Just my humble opinion...
