INXS are taking Jon Stevens to America

INXS are off to introduce Jon Stevens to America. The band will partake of their first US tour since the death of Michael Hutchence starting next month.

Since Michael's death in 1997, INXS have performed on numerous occasions in Australia with various singers. Terence Trent D'Arby look the job for the opening of Olympic Stadium in Sydney and the band played with Jimmy Barnes for the Mushroom 25th anniversary gig in Melbourne in 1999.

Jon Stevens, former lead singer of Noiseworks, as been in the position since early 2000. At INXS.com Andrew Farriss says "No one will ever replace Michael as the lead singer of INXS. At the same time, we all still have a passion to perform and to continue doing what we love.

"In the past year we've played some shows with Jon, who is a fantastic singer. It has felt very comfortable, and sounded pretty damn good, so it seems a natural progression to perform together for this U.S. tour."

INXS and Jon Stevens have no new material for the tour but their is a new Greatest Hits compilation about to be released with a previously unreleased song "Tight". Mark and Brian at KLOS Los Angeles gave the song an airing last week.
