Ted Mulry Benefit
Concert
InMusic&Media reports: Benefit concerts
are to be held in Sydney, and possibly Melbourne, in March for
guitarist and songwriter Ted Mulry who is battling cancer. The music
industry was quietly aware that Mulry, who led the Ted Mulry Gang in
the '70s ("Jump In My Car", "Darktown Strutters Ball"), had had
surgery on his adrenal gland and had a tumor removed from the brain.
But in recent weeks, the cancer has spread to his lungs and stomach.
Rumours are that Cold Chisel and Sherbet will reunite for shows to
raise money for his medical bills, with sets by Midnight Oil, the
Angels and the Hoodoo Gurus. Though INXS won't perform as a band, a
few of the members may appear at the event. Plans are for a similar
benefit concert to be held in Melbourne; failing that, an auction
will be held.

Courtney To Play Paula?
Radio
Undercover reports that Courtney Love has said that she would
like to play the part of the late Paula Yates on film. There is
currently no movie scheduled on Yates, but Love insists that she'll
even write the script if she has to. Love told the Irish newspaper
The Star that she felt she and Yates had much in common; both
had battled alcohol and drugs, both had children to dead rock stars
and both had peroxide blonde hair. The difference is, Yates is the
one that could not overcome her drug problems, and unfortunately
died late last year. Love and Yates met not long before her death.
"We exchanged phone numbers and made plans to hang out" Love said,
"but I believe I met her for a reason, and now I'll bring her true
story to the world." (thanks to mitch robertson)
