European Festival Tour
INXS is set to
wrap up a four date mini-tour of European festivals tonight in
Romania. The band began their current jaunt by opening the Rose of
Tralee festival in Kerry County, Ireland. The free show kicked the
festival off in style, and was attended by over 5,000 fans. Local
band Revelino opened for the Aussie greats.
Next up,
the band played an outdoor show in Bonn's Museum Square. Two German
INXSweb readers attended the show, Markus Pfeffer and Wolfgang Klug,
and each gave the show an enthusiastic thumbs-up. Both fans were
also lucky enough to meet the band -- look for excerpts of their
adventures here soon!
The next night brought the band
to Poland for the Sopot Festival. They played an electric set at the
historic Forest Opera with openers De Mono. All proceeds from the
event will go toward aiding victims of recent flood in Gdansk.
The band completes their European journey tonight by
opening the famous Golden Stag Festival in Brasov, Romania. The
festival is essentially a contest for young acts (ie an unknown
Christina Aquilera stole the show several years back), and also
serves as a showcase for established acts to strut their stuff. This
year acts like UB40 and Cyndi Lauper will also perform at the Golden
Stag.

INXS Linked To Ibiza... Again!
Tall Paul
vs INXS' "Precious Heart" is already a massive international hit,
and recently debuted at #14 on the UK charts. Now comes word that
another hot dance single currently tearing up the Ibiza dancefloors
also contains an INXS sample. Par-t-one's "I'm So Crazy" (Dirty
House/Credence) features a hook from none other than INXS' first
major hit, "Just Keep Walking." The single has been getting Radio 1
airplay in the UK, and will be commercially released shortly. A
Ministry Of Sound review follows: "Rock guitars and a punk attitude
make this record an original alternative to much of the usual
monotony. Limited copies circulated in the right circles have
already made it a sought-after object for attentive DJs. You're
going to hear a lot more about this as time passes
by."

Sales Report
INXSweb Exclusive:
That INXS has been under-appreciated and near ignored in the United
States for many years is not a big revelation to INXS fans. The
negative impact on album sales is, however, much more startling.
Though previous INXS efforts like 1992's excellent Welcome To
Wherever You Are reached platinum certification in sales, INXS'
latest releases have fared quite poorly in contrast. Here are the
latest sales figures for some recent INXS albums.
Shine Like It Does: The Anthology: 9,764 copies
sold to date
Michael Hutchence: 34,042
Elegantly
Wasted: 174,724
Full Moon, Dirty Hearts:

Precious Heart Hits UK Charts (Part
2)
INXS has returned to the UK Top 15 this week for the first
time since "The Strangest Party (These Are The Times)" hit #11 back
in 1994. The "Never Tear Us Apart" re-working entitled "Precious
Heart" by Tall Paul vs INXS has debuted this week at #14. For DJ
Tall Paul, the single represents his second straight Top 40 single,
following the June 2001 #29 re-release of his 1997 single "Rock Da
House." Congratulations to all involved!
In other news,
INXS have confirmed another European date this month -- they will
play in Bonn, Germany on August 25 in addition to their previously
announced shows in Ireland, Romania, and Poland. More dates, though
unannounced at this time, look likely according to various
sources.
