Australia Live Music Awards (Part 2)
AAP reports that Michael Hutchence was one of ten industry greats posthumously honoured at the the third annual Australian Live Music Awards (ALMAs), held on the weekend at Sydney's Fox Studios. Accepting the award was the singer's father Kell Hutchence, who said he was a very proud father and greatly honoured to receive the award on behalf of Michael. "I'm sure he's thrilled to be inducted into the Australian Live Music Awards Hall of Fame," Mr Hutchence told a crowd of about 500 who attended the event. "I'd like to dedicate this award to his daughter, Tiger Lily." (thanks to natalie sherlock)

From MichaelHutchence.com: We are honoured to announce that on Saturday 13th October, 2001 in the Sydney Film Studios of Fox, Michael will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the Australian Live Music Awards. This follows only days after Michael and INXS being inducted into the ARIA's Hall of Fame. This is fabulous news and we all can feel very proud of Michael's recognition.

Par-T-One Crashes UK Chart
In an increasingly familiar (and welcome) trend, a classic INXS track is finding new life as a smash dance hit thanks to smart new remixes. First, DJ Tall Paul vs INXS "Precious Heart" stormed up the UK charts in August, hitting #1 on the influential Club Chart and #14 on the Singles Chart. A modern reworking of "Never Tear Us Apart," the song was also a smash in Australia, where it remains a top ten hit on the ARIA Dance Chart.

This month sees the release of Par-T-One vs INXS "I'm So Crazy," a remix of the early hit "Just Keep Walking." The single, officially released in the UK on October 22, has already caused a commotion on the Club Chart. After debuting last week at #17, the single moves to #5 this week. Released on Credence Records (a subsidiary of Parlophone), "I'm So Crazy" is the work of a previously unknown Italian production unit named Par-T-One.

ARIA Hall Of Fame
INXS was formally inducted into the Australian Record Industry Association Hall Of Fame on October 3 at the annual ARIA Awards Ceremony in Sydney. During the induction, Australian cricket team captain Steve Waugh explained, "INXS have been making great records since 1978 and a lot of cricket teams have psyched-up listening to INXS' music." Guitarist Tim Ferris later confirmed the band would tour and record new material next year. "We're going to go into a garage, and be a garage band again." A montage of the band's fabled history was shown before the audience of 1000, including a mini-tribute to the late Michael Hutchence.
