U2 Grammy for Hutchence Tribute
U2 was a
big winner at last night's Grammy Awards telecast, picking up four
awards in all. Among the wins was "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get
Out Of," which won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with
Vocals.
In an interview with Launch prior to the telecast,
Bono said that the song was inspired his close Aussie friend.
"'Stuck In A Moment' was written for a friend of mine [INXS frontman
Michael Hutchence] who kind of lost it all. In fact, he took his
life, took his own life. All the kind of guilt and anger that went
with that--like, the whole frustration in the first person, which is
extraordinary--and I was asking myself, 'Why are you writing a song
about your mate, but it's all about you?' And I think that was just
really defensiveness at not having noticed somebody on the slide,"
he says. But Bono adds that he was careful not to castigate himself
in the song's lyrics. "It's also very unsentimental and kind of very
merciless, 'cause it's an argument with someone who's letting go of
their, of their life and just kind of is on the
slide."

Kylie speaks on Michael
Kylie Minogue, currently riding a
wave of popularity thanks to her hit club album "Fever," was a guest
of UK chat show host Michael Parkinson last night. During the
interview, Kylie was asked about her former relationship with
Michael Hutchence. "He was incredibly charismatic, intelligent,
generous, funny and a fabulous storyteller. He was just larger than
life but humble with it. I met him at a time in my life when I was
ready to look at the world and it was like he took my blinkers off."
Though she is contemplating marriage to British model James Gooding,
a source in yesterday's Daily Mail adds "Kylie has never really
gotten over Michael. It is the key to why she has had so many
relationships over the years and why she has never been able to
commit herself to anyone in particular."

Sunday, June 23, 2002. In addition, Ticketmaster has the band
