November 2002
November 22, 2002:
Anniversary
Almost unbelievable, but it's five years ago today that Michael
Hutchence died in Sydney, Australia. Please take a moment to remember
and honor the charismatic man we all idolized, admired, and respected
for decades. Michael may be gone, but his legacy remains vibrantly
alive!
INXS Score In Rock Poll
The Triple M radio network in Australia recently had listeners vote on
the "Most Important Rock Artists." INXS came in at number 16, a rather
impressive showing given the many years since their last new release,
1997's underrated Elegantly Wasted. US rockers Pearl Jam came in
at number 1, followed closely by U2 and Nirvana. (thanks to leanne
howatson)
"The Years" Goes Gold
INXS' brand new Australian-only compilation, The Years 1979-1997,
has been certified gold in their home country, a feat that underscores
the continued importance of INXS on the Australian music scene.
Congratulations to the band!
